Jean-François Chougnet
Jean-François Chougnet (1957) graduated from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris. He was assigned to the Ministry of Culture following his studies at the École Nationale d’Administration and devoted his career to cultural policies. He was General Director of the Établissement public du parc et de la grande halle de la Villette (Paris) from 2001-2006, before being nominated Director of the Berardo Foundation in Lisbon, a museum dedicated to modern and contemporary art (2007-2011). In 2011 he became General Director of the Marseille-Provence 2013 Association, coordinating the events that promoted the candidacy of the city of Marseille as European capital of culture for 2013. In 2014 he was nominated President of the Museum of Civilizations in Europe and the Mediterranean (Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée - MuCEM) in Marseille, dedicated to the preservation, study, presentation and mediation of the anthropological heritage related to the European and Mediterranean area.
