Moncef Ben Moussa

Moncef Ben Moussa
Moncef Ben Moussa is the director of the Bardo Museum in Tunis, unfortunately well-known as the target of an ISIS terrorist attack on 18 March 2015, which caused 24 dead and 45 wounded. Moncef Ben Moussa affirmed that “terrorism and fanaticism can be fought with culture” and, in addition to having attended the opening of the Trust and Dialogue for the Mediterranean Museum in Lampedusa, he also donated to the museum one of the artwork that constituted the first exhibition nucleus. The artwork was not a random choice: a welcoming smiling mask. This initiative helped to emphasize the central role of the Lampedusa Island in the Mediterranean and the role of the Mediterranean itself as the centre of a common destiny for all the peoples facing it.
