Patrizio Gonnella

Patrizio Gonnella is an Italian philosopher and jurist. He has always dealt with justice, prisons and human rights. Since 2005 he is national president of the Antigone Association. He was the founder of the European Observatory on Conditions of Detention, a network of non-governmental and university organizations involving partners from eight European countries. Since 2014 he has been president of the Italian Coalition for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CILD). He is a point of reference in Italy of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture. He has written periodically on the issues of prison and justice for the Italian Today newspaper of economic information. He is a columnist for the newspaper Il Manifesto since 1999 on the issues of justice, punishment and human rights. He has written for various newspapers and periodicals, including l'Unità, Corriere della Sera, Terra, Reset.
