Alessandra Morelli has been Delegate for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) since 1992. Her professional experience has been principally in conflict and emergency areas management. She has been involved over many years in negotiating, planning and coordinating protection and assistance operations for internally displaced persons, refugees and returnees in the most fragile areas of the world. He worked in the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Albania, Kosovo, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Western Sahara, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Georgia, Yemen, Burma, Somalia, and she has recently stabilized the first refugee emergency intervention in Greece, which has seen passing on its territory more than 1 million people escaping war and violence. She is currently working in Italy to spread the UNHCR’s message of protection and hospitality through conferences and public meetings.
